The American tenor, Douglas Robinson, performed in the role of the Evangelist in J.S. Bach's St. John Passion (BWV 245) with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem in its second concert of the 300th Series held in March 1985. He was a tenor soloist at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. since 1980, he appeared with the major choral societies in Washington. In New York he was a featured artist with the Basically Bach Festival, with Musica Sacra and the Pro Arte Chorale. In May 1986 he performed J.S. Bach's Cantatas BWV 87, BWV 172 and BWV 21 at Bethlehem Bach Festival (Director: Greg Funfgeld).
Douglas Robinson made his Canadian debut in 1985 with the Edmonton Symphony and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra in performances of George Frideric Handel's Messiah. For his London debut, he was a soloist in J.S. Bach's Mass in B Minor (BWV 232) at Queen Elizabeth Hall.
