The French baritone, Christopher Sam. sang as a boy in the Maîtrise de Bretagne. He began his career performing as a soloist under the direction of Hervé Niquet (Le Concert Spirituel). He then joined the Collegium Vocale Gent (Philippe Herreweghe) with whom he recorded, among others, J.S. Bach's Cantatas. He has sung under the direction of Joël Suhubiette, Martin Gester, Bernard Haitink, Daniel Reuss, Ton Koopman, Thomas Hengelbrock ... These concerts led him to perform in prestigious international halls: Atlanta, Paris, Vienna, Rome, London, Tokyo, Berlin, Barcelona...
Christopher Sam founded Scordatura Ensemble, specializing in the field of experimentation and discovery around the vocal and instrumental music from the Renaissance to the present day and appeared a the festival Les Ephémères. Today he performs regularly with the Ensemble Sequenza 9.3, Ensemble Jacques Moderne (Director: Joël Suhubiette), chamber choir Les Eléments (Director: Joël Suhubiette). In 2007 he appeared with the Ensemble Vocal Montéclair in the concert Les Rois et les Dieux. In 2011-2012, he was invited to serve as the first Artistic Director of the Festival de Musique Classique de la Réunion. |
