The Hungarian baritone, Máté Sólyom-Nagy, studied solo singing at Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest from 1993 to 1997, solo and opera singing at Franz Liszt Music University in Budapest from 1997 to 2002, with professor Éva Andor. In 2002 he received his diploma: excellent with praise. In 2002-2003 he studied under DAAD-Scholarship at the Music Academy Stuttgart with Professor Julia Hamari. He also took part in master-classes with László Polgár in Zürich, Walter C. Moore in Vienna, Nicholas Clapton in Oxford, and Julia Hamari in Stuttgart. He won prizes at "Saverio Mercadante Competizione di Canto" in Altamura (1999, 3rd place), "Mikulaš Schneider-Trnavsky" singing competition in Trnava (2000, 3rd place in junior category), and "Antonin Dvořak" singing competition in Karlovy Vary (2000, two 3rd place in junior and song category).
From 1998 to 2002 Máté Sólyom-Nagy was member of "Ars Classica Chamber Opera", where his roles were: Papageno in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Belcore in G. Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore, Conte Almaviva in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Conte Robinson in D. Cimarosa's Il matrimonio segreto, and the title role W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni. From 2002 to 2022 he was also member of "Auris Company", where his roles were: Masetto in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni and Ezio in G. Verdi's Attila.
From 2002 Máté Sólyom-Nagy is an ensemble member at Theater Erfurt. His roles there have included: Salvatore in M. Tutino's La lupa, Pantalone in S. Prokofiev's L'Amour du trois oranges, Totonno
in P. Tasca's Santa Lucia, Prof. Würmchen in C. Zeller's Der Vogelhändler, Mongole in S. Walden's Bachs letzte Oper, Kater in M. Tutino's Der gestiefelte Kater, Johann in A. Lortzing's Die Opernprobe, Lefort in A. Lortzing's Zar und Zimmermann, Brander in H. Berlioz's La damnation de Faust, Frontoffizier in R. Strauss's Friedenstag, Abendwind in
J. Offenbach's Häuptling Abendwind, Parker in E. Kálmán's Die Bajadere, Der Narr in E. Křenek's Das geheime Königreich, and Olifour in D.F.E. Auber's Le Dieu et la Bayadere.
Máté Sólyom-Nagy's appearances as a guest have included Schaunard in G. Puccini's La boheme at the National Theater of Miskolc/Hungary (2000), Papageno in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at the Theater of Debrecen/Hungary (2001), Papageno in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and Tábori Elemér in L. Gyöngyösi's The Nightmare at the Hungarian State Opera House (2004), and the title role in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni at the Komische Oper Berlin (2005).
