Sebastian Wolff is an Irish composer and organist. He became a monk of Buckfast in 1948. After his ordination, he studied the organ with Dr. Lionel Dakers at Exeter Cathedral, and gained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists in 1962. Shortly afterwards he was appointed musical advisor in the Diocese of Plymouth to help the changeover from Latin to English in the Catolic Church, following the decrees on sacred music of the Second Vatican Council.
It was then that Father Sebastian Wolff began to compose, beginning with various settings for the vernacular Mass, then other choral and, later, music for organ. He is currently organist at Buckfast Abbey as well as fulfilling the duties of a parish priest. |
