Epistle: Colossians 1: 9-14 Prayer for the increase of grace

9. Derhalben auch wir von dem Tage an, da wir's gehöret haben, hören wir nicht auf, für euch zu beten und zu bitten, daß ihr erfüllet werdet mit Erkenntnis seines Willens in allerlei geistlicher Weisheit und Verstand,

[9] For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

10. daß ihr wandelt würdiglich dem HErrn zu allem Gefallen und fruchtbar seid in allen guten Werken

[10] That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

11. und wachset in der Erkenntnis GOttes und gestärket werdet mit aller Kraft nach seiner herrlichen Macht in aller Geduld und Langmütigkeit mit Freuden;

[11] Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

12. und danksaget dem Vater, der uns tüchtig gemacht hat zu dem Erbteil der Heiligen im Licht,

[12] Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

13. welcher uns errettet hat von der Obrigkeit der Finsternis und hat uns versetzt in das Reich seines lieben Sohnes,

[13] Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

14. an welchem wir haben die Erlösung durch sein Blut, nämlich die Vergebung der Sünden,

[14] In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Gospel: Matthew 9: 18-26 Raising of Jairus’s daughter

18. Da er solches mit ihnen redete, siehe, da kam der Obersten einer und fiel vor ihm nieder und sprach: HErr, meine Tochter ist jetzt gestorben; aber komm und lege deine Hand auf sie, so wird sie lebendig.

[18] While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.

19. Und JEsus stund auf und folgete ihm nach und seine Jünger.

[19] And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.

20. Und siehe, ein Weib, das zwölf Jahre den Blutgang gehabt, trat von hinten zu ihm und rührete seines Kleides Saum an.

[20] And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:

21. Denn sie sprach bei sich selbst: Möcht' ich nur sein Kleid anrühren, so würde ich gesund.

[21] For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.

22. Da wandte sich JEsus um und sah sie und sprach: Sei getrost, meine Tochter; dein Glaube hat dir geholfen. Und das Weib ward gesund zu derselbigen Stunde.

[22] But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

23. Und als er in des Obersten Haus kam und sah die Pfeifer und das Getümmel des Volks,

[23] And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,

24. sprach er zu ihnen: Weichet! denn das Mägdlein ist nicht tot, sondern es schläft. Und sie verlachten ihn.

[24] He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.

25. Als aber das Volk ausgetrieben war, ging er hinein und ergriff sie bei der Hand. Da stund das Mägdlein auf.

[25] But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.

26. Und dies Gerücht erscholl in dasselbige ganze Land.

[26] And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.
