Chaconne (Mvt. 5) from Partita for solo violin No. 2 in D minor, BWV 1004, arranged for orchestra
However, this is actually an edited version of Hubay's orchestral transcription (see: Bach-Hubbay: Arragements/Transcriptions of Bach's Works). Rakhlin was the editor (and Arkady Leytush also made some changes afterward). The score of Hubay's version is available on IMSLP. If you try listening to the Rakhlin-Leytush version while reading Hubay's score, you would find that they are very similar. The score of the Rakhlin-Leytush version is also on sale at SheetMusicPlus. If you compare the first 3 pages of this with Hubay's version, you would also find that they are nearly identical.
What probably happened was that Arkady Leytush mistook the score of Hubay's version as an arrangement by Rakhlin. He then made some changes to the score to produce the version we heard in the video. |
