Avres Serva (Instrumental & Vocal Ensemble)

Founded: 2015 - Portugal

Created in 2015 by Nuno Oliveira, who is responsible for musical direction, as well as the preparation and transcription of the repertoire to be presented into modern notation, Avres Serva aims to showcase repertoire from the 16th to the 19th centuries, always in historically informed interpretations, with emphasis on Portuguese music. The ensemble debuted that year with Italian Music for a Vespers Service in the Music Cycle of the Convento dos Capuc. In 2018, the group's participation in the Dias da Música em Belém stood out, having performed the Cantatas BWV 35 and BWV 169 by J.S. Bach, in a first performance in Portugal with historical instruments, tuning and temperament. In 2019, the group was present at the Concert Season at the Capela do Paço Ducal, in Vila Viçosa, and at the Festival das Artes, in Coimbra.

In 2020, Avres Serva was once again present at the Concert Season at the Capela do Paço Ducal and made its debut at the Music Season in São Roque. In these concerts the group presented several programs of Portuguese music from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries in their first modern performances.
