He received both his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Piano Performance (1991-1995) and his Master of Fine Arts degree in Piano Performance (1999-2001) from Purchase College Conservatory of Music.

David Baranowski has been Accompanist of Master Singers of Weschester in Bedford (1998-June 2004); Harpsichord continuo player of American Baroque Orchestra in New Haven (September 2010-June 2012); Music director of Convent of the Sacred Heart (March 2002-2014); Music Director of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Danbury, Connecticut (September 2006-February 2018); Pianist and organist of Kent singers (January 2012-December 2019); Accompanist and pit director of Somers High School (since September 2001); Organist at Trinity-Pawling School (since September 2009).

David Baranowski was named Artistic Director of the Westchester Choral Society in 2021 after serving as Assistant Director and Accompanist for several years (since September 1998). He is also the Artistic Director of the Hudson Chorale (since September 2020), after serving as Pianist and assistant conductor (September 2012-December 2019), Accompanist and assistant conductor (September 2014-September 2020).

In addition to his conducting experience, David Baranowski is also a highly versatile and gifted accompanist, performing with equal virtuosity on piano, keyboard, organ, and harpsichord, with repertoire ranging from J.S. Bach to Deep Purple. He has played numerous chamber and choral concerts in the Westchester area, and is currently the accompanist for the Westchester Choral Society as well as the Hudson Chorale. As an organist, he has performed such works as the Johannes Brahms, Gabriel Fauré, and Maurice Duruflé Requiems, Dvořák's Mass in D, George Frideric Handel's Messiah, and Camille Saint-Saëns' Christmas Oratorio. As a conductor, he has directed Francis Poulencs Gloria, F. Schubert's Mass in G, and John Rutter's Magnificat; and most recently, he conducted W.A. Mozart's Cosi fan tutte from the harpsichord for the Delaware Valley Opera.

Since May 2004, David Baranowski has been touring internationally with rock icon Ritchie Blackmore, as both keyboardist and singer. He has played over 100 concerts and visited nearly 25 countries as a member of Blackmore’s Night, which has been on the charts in Germany, Czech Republic, Russia, England, and the USA. He has also appeared on German television multiple times, and was featured on the prim-time programs Hit Giganten and Fernseharten, reaching millions of viewers. One English newspaper said of his performance in Blackmore’s Night, “… it was the keyboard player who was obviously the jester in this band of players….Along with his sense of comedy, the pianist…was obviously classically trained. He would have easily fit into a King Crimson rock band, or a full orchestra playing Rachmaninoff.“ He appears on several concert DVDs that have earned Double Gold status in Germany and other European countries. He has also collaborated with Irish pop singers and composer, Julie Feeney, and in the spring of 2021 he played keyboard for Feeney’s 10 performances at the Irish Arts Center in Manhattan on WNYC’s Soundcheck.

David Baranowski is currently the Director of Music at the Salisbury Congregational church, as well as a music professor at Western Connecticut State University, teaching music theory, ear training, and piano. He was music director and conductor for The Wild Party and Crazy for You for the Music Theater department at Western Connecticut State University.
