Bel Canto Chamber Singers is one of the Upper Valley’s oldest performing organizations. Founded in 1977, the chorus is dedicated to providing audiences with a broad spectrum of repertoire, from medieval and Renaissance works, to Baroque cantatas, music of the classical era, and contemporary works by local composers. Repertoire includes works like the Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, J.S. Bach's Magnificat (BWV 243), Daniel Pinkham's Christmas Cantata.
Singers hail from towns around the Upper Valley region and the group is led by Music Director Hal Sheeler. Pianist Pierre Fournier provides accompaniment for Bel Canto.
Bel Canto is dedicated to providing a musically challenging experience for its members, with the goal of bringing interesting and beautiful music to audiences throughout the Upper Valley community and beyond.
In May 2012, the acclaimed British composer and organist Paul Ayres to the Upper Valley to guest conduct his 2002 composition, Ode to Music, at two Spring concerts, as well as offering a choral workshop and performing an organ recital during his visit to New Hampshire. |
