The Italian bass and music teacher, Marco Bernabei, graduated in Choral Music and Choir Conducting at the Conservatorio G.B. Martini in Bologna under the guidance of Maestro Pier Paolo Scattolin, then obtained a specialist degree in Musicology, with honors, at the University of Pavia with a thesis concerning the musical treatises in use at the Collegio San Carlo of Modena between the 17th and 18th centuries. In 2006 he began his singing studies at the IDMS di Modena with Elisabetta Emiliani, and then continued them at the Conservatorio A. Boito in Parma with Cristina Curti, Romano Franceschetto and Ilia Aramayo, in whose class he graduated in 2012. He improved by attending master-classes with Chiara Angella, Silvio Zanon, Monica Piccinini, Emma Kirkby, Alessandro Quarta.
Marco Bernabei performs both as a soloist, especially in bass-baritone comic roles, and in choral groups. He sings regularly in the Fonte Armonica Ensemble and has collaborated as an additional singer with the Coro polifonico di San Gimignano (SI). He was part of the Cappella Musicale del Duomo di Modena. Since 2022, he has been the bass section leader of the Schola Polifonica di Modena Musica Sacra.
Marco Bernabei has gained extensive teaching experience by holding courses in musical subjects and lessons in the history of music aimed at adults, carrying out musical education and vocal activities in nursery, middle and high schools. Since 2005 he has directed the Corale Estense dell’Università per la Terza Età in Modena. He is a singing and choir teacher at the Liceo musicale Carlo Sigonio in Modena. |
