The American (?) pianist & movement therapist, John Buttrick, was one of the last students of Joseph Pilates and is a pianist whose career was halted through an accident in which he sustained multiple fractures of his hand, arm, and shoulder. Through regular practice of Pilates, Feldenkrais, Chinese Medicine and Kinesiology, John's playing gradually returned over the following seven years, to as he describes, “at least as strong and effective as it was before.”
John Buttrick has an expanding parallel practice as a Pilates and Feldenkrais Instructor and Therapist for individuals with a range of difficulties from injury to arthritis. He has helped a few clients cancel imminent operations and others bring back a normal range of flexibility and movement and a reduction of pain.
John Buttrick has recorded about 12 albums, most of them for the Swiss label Jecklin Musikhaus, of music by Franz Schubert, Ferruccio Busoni, Joseph Haydn, Max Reger, Richard Strauss, Johannes Brahms, L.v. Beethoven, César Franck, and Frédéric Chopin. |
