The American choral conductor, composer and educator, Bronwyn Clagett, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and a Minor in World Music with honors from the West Virginia University (2013-2017); and her Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting and a Graduate Certificate in Music Theory Pedagogy from the University of Tennessee (2020-2022). Currently she studies for her Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting at Louisiana State University (since June/August 2022; expecteded graduation: May 2025). She also possesses certification in World Music Pedagogy from the Smithsonian Folkways Institute.
Bronwyn Clagett sang with the West Virginia Community Choir and is a founding member of the Vox Principalis Choral Association, a 501(c)3 charitable organization based in Morgantown, West Virginia, providing quality choral music to the area. She most recently served as the President of the Board of Directors of Vox Principalis. She also served as the Assistant Choir Director at Spruce Street United Methodist Church.
From June 2017 to June 2020, Bronwyn Clagett e served as the music teacher and choral director at Kingwood Elementary School in Preston County, West Virginia, and founded the Kingwood Elementary Choir. Beginning in 2019, she additionally taught and founded the choral program at Central Preston Middle School. During her tenure, she was an active and vocal supporter of the arts, securing grants totaling over $22,000 to support her programs and choirs. Also beginning in 2019, she served as an Executive Board Member of the West Virginia All-State Children’s Choir and as Vice President of the Society for General Music.
Most recently, Bronwyn Clagett conducted the workshop premiere of scenes from The Devil’s Dream, a new opera by Dr. Mara Gibson. She has also worked with the opera chorus in the Turner-Fisher Center for Opera at LSU under the direction of Micheal Borowitz. Locally, she regularly sings with the Opéra Louisiane chorus and served as Assistant Chorus Master for their 2022 production of Amahl and the Night Visitors.
Bronwyn Clagett is a proud member of the American Choral Directors Association, National Association for Music Education, American Orff-Schulwerk Association, the West Virginia Music Educators Association, and Sigma Alpha Iota. She currently lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. |
