The Swiss violinist and musical director, Jan-Philip Dolci, began studying the violin, music theory and choir in 2005: he studied violin with Maestro Domenico Cutrì until 2014, then from 2014 to 2016 with Katalin Major at the Scuola di Musica del Conservatorio. He now continues his violin studies with the young Zhen Xu, graduate student of Anna Modesti, also at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana (CSI). At the same time he studied music theory until 2015 with Sara Uboldi and Stefano Bragetti at the Scuola di Musica del Conservatorio, and from 2016 until now with Valentina Londino and Ivo Antognini in the Pre-College section of the CSI. He sang continuously since 2005 in the various preparatory choirs up to, in 2009, in the Coro Clairière, with which she has participated in important projects in Switzerland and abroad (for example, in 2012 in Bethlehem for the Christmas Mass in the Basilica of the Nativity) and in which it is still active. Since 2012 he has been a member of the dell’Orchestra Giovanile della Svizzera Italiana. From January to March 2017 he plays under the direction of Gregor Bugar in the Fireworks Orchestra. In 2016 he entered Barbara Zanichelli's singing class in the Pre-College section of the CSI. Since September 2018 he has been studying in the Bachelor Schulmusik with conducting in the class of Ulrike Grosch and Stefan Albrecht and singing in the class of Peter Brechbühler at the Hoschule Luzern - Musik.
Jan-Philip Dolci is active in the field of chamber music, playing in various formations: in 2015 he formed the Unifonia Ensemble together with Annika Rast, Giorgia Laurenti, Gregor Bugar and Alessandro Greusard, with whom he performs at the CSI Gala Concert on January 28, 2016, and in 2017 the Trio Euterpe together with Gregor Bugar and Milo Ferrazzini, with whom he performed as part of the Ascona Music Festival on October 14, 2017. In April 2016, in March 2017 and between September 2017 and March 2018 he attended three choral conducting courses in Varese with Maestro Giuseppe Reggiori. In October 2017 he attended the orchestral conducting course with Maestro Pierangelo Gelmini and the Orchestra Sinfonica del Lario in Cantù and was selected for the final concert.
In 2015 he founded, together with other young musicians, the Coro del Ensemble Soli Deo Gloria (former Bach Ensemble), and in 2017 the Orchestra dell’Ensemble, which he manages as a conductor. He has performed with the group on many occasions and with many programs, counting excellent collaborations, such as the RSI for a televised broadcast, and the singers Barbara Zanichelli, Maria Guffi, Emma Urriani, Nuno Santos and Giovanni Baraglia as part of the program with motets and cantatas by J.S. Bach. Even in the purely orchestral field he had a collaboration with the pianist Leoni Rast for the performance of the Piano Concerto in G major No. 17, KV 453, by W.A. Mozart in 2018, and with the pianist Andrea Jermini as part of the last concert of the Orchestra dell'Ensemble in 2019. |
