Coro FECOCOVA (Choir)

Founded: Mid-2005 - Valencia, Spain

The Coro FECOCOVA was born at the initiative of the Federación de Coros de la Comunidad Valenciana (FECOCOVA; English: Federation of Choirs of the Valencian Community) in order to achieve a stable and representative group in the non-professional choral field of the Valencian Community. It began its activity in mid-2005, under the direction of Josep R. Gil-Tàrrega, with its current director being Pau De Luís Alba (since October 2021).

Coro FECOCOVA's objectives are to disseminate Valencian choral music, as well as to serve as a forum for meeting and exchange for the choirists of the Community, transferring the experiences practiced to their respective choirs and contributing to the musical and human enrichment of our choral groups.

Coro FECOCOVA's is made up of singers with solid musical training and extensive choral experience from throughout the Valencian Community who, after passing a selection process, periodically carry out intensive rehearsal concentrations in which they prepare the repertoire that they then offer in public performances. They act as Pilot Choir in the Choral Conducting Courses and premiere the winning works in the Composition Competition organized annually by FECOCOVA.

Coro FECOCOVA has been developing a very diverse repertoire in terms of genres, eras, composers, languages, textures, etc. In relation to the eras, repertoires have been addressed from the 15th century to the 21st century; with all genres, religious, profane, lyrical, symphonic, etc.; Likewise, scores by very diverse authors have been performed, from the classics to the most unknown composers of our time. A special mention must be made of those works where the choir has collaborated with other orchestral or chamber groups.
