The Portuguese conductor, organist and music teacher, Tiago Ferreira, he began his musical studies at the Escola de Música da Igreja da Lapa. Later he attended the Curso de Música Silva Monteiro, where he studied piano and composition and received his general musical training. In 2001 he entered the Escola Diocesana de Ministérios Litúrgicos do Porto, thus beginning his organ studies, and also completed the III Curso Nacional de Música Litúrgica (2003-2006). He holds a degree in Sacred Music from the Escola das Artes da Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Class of 2008). He studied organ and improvisation with Giampaolo di Rosa; composition with Eugénio Amorim and Nuno Peixoto de Pinho; choral and orchestral conducting with Pedro Monteiro and Cesário Costa; and chamber music with Luca Antoniotti. He has participated in organ master-classes with Stefan Bayer, Luca Antoniotti, Olivier Latry, Daniel Roth, Lionel Rogg, José Uriol, Andreas Arand, Jon Laukvik, Monserrat Torrent, and Ludger Lohmann. Between 2011 and 2015, he attended Master's programs in Organ-Performance and in Catholic Sacred Music at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, Germany (2011-2013), where he studied organ and improvisation with Winfried Bönig, and choral and orchestral conducting with Reiner Schuhenn and Robert Göstl.
Tiago Ferreira has performed solo in concerts in several cities in Portugal, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Latvia, and Italy, and has also been part of various instrumental and choral groups. He was an organ teacher at the IV and V Curso Nacional de Música Litúrgica in Fátima and at the Escola de Música da Póvoa de Varzim.
Tiago Ferreira assumed the Artistic Direction of the Coro da Sé Catedral do Porto in September 2015 at the invitation of its founder, Canon António Ferreira dos Santos. He is currently a professor of Organ at the Escola Diocesana de Ministérios Litúrgicos in Porto (since February 2014) and at the Academia de Música Costa Cabral in Porto (since September 2014) and at the VI Curso Nacional de Música Litúrgica in Fátima. He has been the organist of the Igreja da Lapa in Porto since 2001. |
