The Swedish organist and church musician, Joachim Gehrold, studied church music at the Conservatories in Hamburg and Bremen, and concluded with the A-exam. In 1982 he was a prize-winner at the Competition of the Universities and Conservatories in the Federal Republic of Germany in "organ solo". He also attended organ-courses with Fernando Tagliavini, Almut Rössler, André Fleury, Ludger Lohmann, Wolfgang Rübsam, Szigmond Szathmáry, Daniel Roth and Jon Laukvik.
From 1980 to 1988 Joachim Gehrold was organist at Christuskirche Bremen-Vahr; until 2004 he was a church musician at the Altstädter Nicolaikirche Bielefeld, region organ expert of the Westfälische Landeskirche and lecturer for organ playing at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik, Herford. Since March 2004 he is Church Muic Director (KMD) of Sprengel Ostfriesland and Kantor and organist at the Lutherkirche Leer.
