The Norswegian soprano, Hilde Veslemøy Hagen, received dental hygienist education at the Dental faculty, University of Bergen (1993-1995), then was was year teacher training cource in music, main instrument: voice at the College of Bodø (1997-1998). She has undergraduate education degree in Music, main instrument: voice at Grieg Academy, Music departement, University of Bergen (1998-2000); Postgraduate Education degree in Music, main instrument: voice, including Barock interpretation, musical dramatics, contemporary music, performance techniques at Grieg Academy, music departement, University of Bergen (2000-2002); has a Master’s degree in singing from the Grieg Academy (2002-2004), thesis: Benjamin Britten's Quatre Chansons Francaises. He sibging teachers were: Regine Vesterlid Strøm (1997-1998), Harald Bjørkøy (1998-2000), Hilde Haraldsen Sveen (since 1999). She attended master-classses with Håkan Hagegård (2002), Professor Alison Pearce (2002); Elizabeth Norberg-Schulz, Robert Levine, Håvard Gimse, Susanna Eken, Simon Kirkbride (2003); Alison Pearce (2004).
Hilde Veslemøy Hagen has a broad repertoire, and has been a soloist in several oratorio and Church-Music concerts including George Frideric Handel's Messiah, J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor BWV 232 and Johannes-Passion BWV 245, Haydn’s The Creation and The Seasons, W.A. Mozart's Requiem and Benjamin Britten's The Company of Heaven (2002). Through her annual participation in Musica Nord’s concert series, “Grieg in Bergen”, she has more than 100 times told the story of Edvard Grieg’s life through song. She has held several concerts at Troldhaugen, the home of Grieg, both in his house and in the concert hall, Troldsalen.
On the opera stage, Hilde Veslemøy Hagen has appeared as the Queen of the Night in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (Grieghallen and Järna Kulturhus, Sweden, 2004), Baby Blue in Libby Larsen’s Dreaming Blue and in Knut Waage’s opera, Veslefrikk in Tromsø, Bergen and Szeged, Hungary. She has performed as a soloist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and has taken part in several productions with Bergen Nasjonale Opera, both as a soloist and a chorus member.
Hilde Veslemøy Hagen has been a member of Edvard Grieg Kor since its formation in 2003 (then KorVest) and has performed in most of their concerts. She has also appeared as a chorus member in several recordings with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir. In 2005 she received the Bergen Kommune’s etableringsstipend, a stipend given to Bergen’s most promising up-and-coming artists. |
