The Norwegian soprano and teacher, Ingvill Mjeldheim Holter, received her Bachelor’s degree from the Grieg Academy (2009) before moving to Copenhagen, where she completed her Master’s in Singing Performance at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in 2011.
A versatile soprano with an excellent stage presence, Ingvill Holter performs as a soloist with orchestras and choirs, as well as in opera- and theatre-productions. She also thrives when singing in ensembles of various sizes. Ingvill has a great interest in early music, and is used regularly as a soloist by professional Baroque ensembles in Norway and abroad. She is a member of the middle-age ensemble, Currentes, which will release its second CD in the autumn of 2015. She is also a permanent member of Edvard Grieg Kor which has its base in Bergen.
As one half of Vestavill, a duo with pianist Marita Kjetland Rabben, Ingvill Holter has held concerts in major cities such as Berlin and New York. They are known for their concert-concept, where music, text and history come to life in the performances. Their repertoire ranges from Grieg and Max Reger to Dmitri Shostakovich and Montsalvatge and in 2015, the duo recorded their first CD.
Ingvill Holter is also an experienced teacher, working both with individuals and groups. She has received an establishment scholarship from Bergen Kommune, which has helped to launch her career as one of the most sought-after sopranos in Scandinavia. |
