The German conductor, Klaus Hövelmann, sang as a boy in Bremer Knabenchor. He studied in Freiburg: school music, conducting (choir and orchestra), musicology and German.
For two years Klaus Hövelmann served as guest professor over the DAAD in Cairo at the Conservatory for European music. He gave concerts in Cairo and Alexandria with the Deutschen Kammerchor und Kammerorchester, the Symphonieorchester des Institus für Europäische Musik, and Cairo Symphony Orchestra. He was conductor of Chor- und Orchesterwochen in the context of the Internationalen Arbeitskreises für Musik Kassel (IAM). He is artistic director of the Music Days St. Peter, which take place annually at the end of Septembers/beginning of October.
Klaus Hoevelmann is the founder (1967) and conductor of both Freiburger Kammerchor & Freiburger Kammerorchester. He is also active as university teacher for choir and orchestra conducting at the Musikhochschule Freiburg. He also directs courses, and publisher of rare choir and orchestra literature. He is Carrier of the Bundesverdienstkreuzes (Order of Merit). |
