Robert Hufstader (Choral Conductor)

The American choral conductor and music pedagogue,. Robert C. Hufstader, was a graduate of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester.

Robert Hufstader was organist and choir master in Buffalo, and in Princeton, New Jerse, where he was on the Princeton University faculty and was organist and choirmaster at the University Chapel. He joines the staff of the Juilliard School of Music in New York in 1945, and served as director of the extension division and of the summer school. From 1969 to 1973, he was Director of the Julliard School's precollege division and taught music there.

Robert Hufstader died on May 26, 1975 at his home. He was 68 years old and lived at 1088 Park Avenue. He was survived by his widow, the former Alice Mary Anderson (d 1986) and former director of the Rollins College Conservatory of Music (1952-1966); a daughter, Mrs. George B. Sharp, and two sons Peter and Dom Anselm, of the Benedictine order.
