The German choral conductor, organist and church musician, Volker Jänig, studied church music and organ in Lübeck and Leipzig. Concert exam with Arvid Gast. He attended further courses with Michael Radulescu, Daniel Roth, Petr Eben and others.
In 1997 Volker Jänig was a church music assistant at the St. Nikolai-Kirche in Leipzig and from 1998 he worked as District Kantor and organist at the Stadtkirche St. Nicolai in Mölln with its historical Scherer-Bünting organ from 1766. Since 2011 he has been Regional Kantor of the Lippischen Landeskirche and Kantor at the Kirche St. Marien in Lemgo. The focus of his work is the wide range of choir work, Fritz Scherer's historic Schwalbennestorgel (Swallow's Nest organ) from 1613 and the management of the D and C courses and the organ kids project. He initiated the reconstruction of historical instruments - cornetts, trombones and flutes - for making music with the Schwalbennestorgel and thus the cultivation of Renaissance music, especially in church services and the annual festival " mixTour – Renaissance der Musik ". In 2021 he was awarded the title of Kirchenmusikdirektor (KMD, Church Music Director).
Volker Jänig teaches choral conducting and organ building at the Musikhochschule Detmold.
Volker Jänig's concert activities have taken him to Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland and France. CD recordings and radio recordings complete his work. |
