Regina Kabis (Soprano)

Born: Germany

The German soprano, Regina Kabis, studied opera, Lieder and concert singing at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg, followed by graduate studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. She completed her studies with distinction. The world of opera opened up to her already between her 11th and 19th years of life. At the City Theater Freiburg, she was engaged at that time for solo children's roles.

Through the encounter with the ensemble for medieval music "Freiburger Spielleyt" with whom she had sung as soloist for for many years, Regina Kabis turned mainly to the interpretation of early music. Numerous festivals at home and abroad, radio and television stations have invited the ensemble.

As an oratorio singer, Regina Kabis sings mainly the literature of the Baroque, but also works of classic and modern. She has collaborated with musicians such as Winfried Toll, Kay Johannsen, Hermann Max, John Holloway or Hille Perl. As a guest, she sang with vocal ensembles such as the Orlando di Lasso Ensemble under Detlef Bratschke, Le Parlement de Musique under Martin Gester or the Chapel Rhénane under Benoît Haller. With her own ensembles she can achieve her own ideas, the quartet "a chantar" and the ensemble "Voix Douces". She has appeared at the Styrian Graz, the MDR Musiksommer, the Schlossfestspiele Feldkirch, the Festival Route Romane and other important venues in France and many others in Italy, Poland, Slovenia, the USA and South America.

Since 2002, Regina Kabis has taught voice at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg. Among her pupils and/or singers who have attended her master-classes: Sophie Harr (Soprano).
