Ulrich Kaiser (Choral Conductor)

Born: June 25, 1973 - Dresden, Saxony, Germany

The German choral conductor, conductor, and church musician, Ulrich Kaiser, began his musical career as a member of the Dresdner Kreuzchor. He learned conducting at the age of 13 and became assistant to the Dresdner Kreuzchor two years later. After reunification, he went to Bavaria to join the Windsbacher Knabenchor. There he founded a children's choir, which he directed, as well as a local church choir. He also worked with the Windsbacher Knabenchor themselves, forming a male vocal ensemble with their male voices; he also founded a chamber orchestra.

Ulrich Kaiser's music studies then took him to Berlin, to the Universität der Künste. There he founded the Amadeus-Chor and the Amadeus-Kammerorchester. In 2003, he became director of the Neuen Knabenchors Hamburg. Under his direction, the choir sang in the plenary hall of the German Bundestag and - at the invitation of Pope Benedict XVI - in St. Peter's Basilica, among other venues. In 2011, he resigned from his position in Hamburg and took over as director of the MDR-Kinderchores in Leipzig, which he led until 2017. He also directed the Leipziger Vocalensemble since 2012. Since 2018, he has directed the Knabenchor Unser Lieben Frauen Bremen.

Ulrich Kaiser has taught singing and music theory at various universities and colleges. In 2008, he passed his examination as a church musician, a position he pursues full-time. He has also worked as a lecturer in children's choir conducting.
