The German music editor and conductor, Hans Koppenburg, contributed in the years 1963 to 2002 with a variety of initiatives to enrich the Erbach concert life. His honorary consultancy with Erbacher Kulturausschuss from 1979 to 2002 is particularly due to the redesign of the chamber music series at the Deutsches Elfenbeinmuseum Erbach, which he established in co-operation with the Hessischer Rundfunk as his colleague. With this concept, he set standards for widely respected music events. His concept of engaging international young musicians with artistic daring and promising career aspirations remains valid. He was also the first Artistic Director was from 1972 to 1978/1979 of the Weilburger Schlosskonzerte, succeeded by Karl Rarich in 1980..
For his services to Erbach cultural life, Hans Koppenburg was awarded the 1980 Elfenbeinverdienstplakette (Ivory Merit Plaque) and the Ehrenburgerschaft der Kreisstadt (Honorary citizen of the county seat) of the district town of Erbach in 1996. His commitment earned respect and recognition. He died surprisingly on February 16, 2013 at the age of 80 in Wiesbaden. |
