The German harpsichordist, pianist and organist, Norbert Kries, began playing piano at the age of eight, four years later violin which enabled him to play in a symphony orchestra. He is founding member of the Symphony Orchestra of the county of Kaiserslautern. After Abitur and military service he first studied music education with main subject piano at the university of music in Saarbrücken. Important impetus he got by his teacher Professor Robert Leonardy.
From 1984 to 1989, Norbert Kries studied dentistry at the university of Mainz reaching his doctorate. Since then he works as a self-employed office-based dentist.
In the years 1992-1995 Norbert Kries consolidates his pianistic skills with Professor Jean Micault, Saarbrücken. Besides numerous soloistic performances (piano concertos of L.v. Beethoven and W.A. Mozart) he takes an active part in playing harpsichord and organ in various ensembles (e.g. Camerata Musici con Medici) and spends a lot of time with chamber music an vocal accompaniment. He is member of the World Doctors Orchestra, the "Orchestre Resonances Lorraine" and Bruckner Akademie Orchester, Munich.
Norbert Kries is married and father of four children. In addition he is a passionate glider pilot. |
