The Spanish bass, Juan Laborería, began his musical training at the children’s section of the Orfeón Donostiarra, a widely well known international choir where he has subsequently contributed as a member of either the youth and adult section. He also studied horn in the conservatory of his native city as well as Choral Direction at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMuC) in Barcelona, with Johan Duijck, and at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig with Roland Börger.
After having attended the Superior Degree of Singing in the Conservatori del Liceu with Oriol Rosés, Juan Laborería is currently carrying on with his studies at the High Music School of the Basque Country, Musikene, with Maite Arruabarrena. He has also benefited from classes from many other professors such as C. Alcedo, C. Álvarez, D. Baldwin, E. Halfvarson, Heidrun Kordes, T. Madigan, J. Martin-Royo, D. Mason, M. Pikulski, F. Poyato, W. Rieger, O. Saitua, J. Surinyac, M. Urbieta or A. Vogel.
Different scenarios of the Spanish geography have been a witness of Juan Laborería's presence in the field of the lied, the oratorio and the opera. Among his last projects, a special mention could be made for his contribution as Figaro in the work Jazz Bodas de Figaro by Paco Mir at the Romea Theater in Murcia as well as his debut at the Kursaal Auditorium in San Sebastián with W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, his collaboration with Orfeó Badaloní in the play Mass of the Children by John Rutter, as well as his participation in the Cartagena Bach Week with the works Membra Jesu nostri by Dietrich Buxtehude and Cantata BWV 140 by J.S. Bach. |
