Origin of the Capilla de Música de Santa María del Coro, Conductus Ensemble (= CE) was founded in 2002. Since then, more than one hundred concerts have been performed at important venues such as Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Riojaforum, Palacio Euskalduna de Bilbao and Auditorio Kursaal de San Sebastian. CE takes part in many international music festivals such as Toulouse les Orgues (France), Quincena Musical Donostiarra, Festival de Música Antigua de Zenarruza and Ciclo de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Its renditions have been consistently praised by critics and audiences alike.
Since the beginning, CE has performed mostly sacred music, with a special focus on J.S. Bach’s celebrated complete works like St. John Passion (BWV 245), St. Mathew Passion (BWV 244), B minor Mass (BWV 232) and Motets. Apart from the works of J.S. Bach, CE performances have also included many other musical masterpieces such as Monteverdi’s Vespers and Requiems by Victoria, W.A. Mozart, Johannes Brahms, Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Duruflé, etc. |
