The Italian tenor, Peter de Laurentiis, was born to a Scottish mother and a Neapolitan father. He studied violin at the Paganini Conservatory in Genoa, and went on to study musicology at the University of Cremona, University of Oxford in England (Class of 2001), University of Pavia in Italy (Class of 2003), and Université François Rabelais in Tours, Farance (Class of 2009).
Peter de Laurentiis is active as a freelance tenor singer since January 2010. While at University, he developed an interest in vocal music and started performing with various specialised ensembles. He now works mainly with Cappella Pratensis (Director: Stratton Bull; since September 2015) also covering the role of Artistic Advisor and Project Manager, cantoLX (Director: Frank Agsteribbe), La Capella Reial de Catalunya (Director: Jordi Savall), La Fenice (Director: Jean Tubéry; 2004-2013), Choeur de Chambre de Namur (Director: (Leonardo García-Alarcón), Currende (Director: Erik Van Nevel), Vlaams Radio Koor (Director: Hervé Niquet), Arsys Bourgogne (Director: Pierre Cao; 2013-2015), and L'Aura Soave.
Also active in teaching, Peter de Laurentiis gives lessons, conferences and courses in history and notation of early music, singing, and in pronunciation and diction issues for singers. A research associate of the Alamire Foundation in Leuven (sine June 2015), he is very interested and continues studying cultural history, textual criticism and philology, and inspiring new ways to perform early and difficult repertoires for modern audiences, but he also has a secret passion for cooking. |
