The English baritone singer, choral and orchestral conductor and music teacher, David McKee, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree with honours and his Maaster of Arts degee in Music, Conducting from the University of Exeter (2000-2004).
David McKee is a professional baritone singer, performing as a soloist and as a member of cathedral choirs of St George’s Windsor, St Paul’s Cathedral, and St Peter’s Eaton Square, as well as occasionally with the BBC Singers and other vocal ensembles across the UK and Europe. He is conductor of a wide range of ensembles, both professional and amateur, particularly specialising in choral direction. Works conducted include: J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor BWV 232, Matthäus-Passion BWV 244, Johannes-Passion BWV 245; W.A. Mozart's Requiem, Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah, Verdi's Requiem, Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, Edward Elgar's Dream of Gerontius. He is also experienced in performing and directing liturgical music in cathedral and college settings.
David McKee is a music teacher at senior school level, experienced in teaching GCSE Music, A level Music, A level Music Technology and IB Music. He has served as Assistant Director of Music at Brighton and Hove High School (September 2005-July 2006); Teacher of Music (Acting Head of Department 2007) at Notre Dame High School (September 2006-July 2008); Teacher of Music at Gresham's School (September 2008-December 2011); Director of Music at Milton Abbey School (January 2012-July 2014); Director of Music at Cheltenham College (August 2014-September 2023), where he was responsible for all academic and practical aspects of music across College.
September 2023, David McKee is Director of Music at Charterhouse School in Surrey, overseeing the wonderful choirs and orchestras as well as the Cheltenham College Chorister Scheme. In addition, he has been EDI Lead at Music Teachers Association (May 2021-September 2023); and Trustee and Director of the Three Choirs Festival (since September 2019). |
