The American violinist, Nathan Meltzer, studies with Itzhak Perlman and Li Lin at the Juilliard School of Music in New York (since 2018; expected graduation: 2022). He is Recipient of the 2020 Salon de Virtuosi Career Grant. He was awarded 1st prize at the 2017 Windsor Festival International String Competition, in England, aged just 16, the youngest ever to win this competition.
Nathan Meltzer is quickly building an international reputation as a rising young virtuoso of outstanding potential. He has been a soloist with the Orchestre national d'Île-de-France, Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Aalborg Symfoniorkester, Orquesta Sinfónica Concepción, Orquesta Filarmónica de Medellín, Berliner Symphoniker and Bloomington, Evansville, and Muncie orchestras, among others, performing in Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, the UK, and across the USA. As a recitalist and chamber musician, he has performed at the ChamberFest Cleveland, Giardini La Mortella, Heidelberger Frühling, Krzyżowa Festival, Moritzburg Festival, Musical de l’Orne, Perlman Music Program Chamber Workshop, and Verbier Festival Academy. He has been a concert artist with Omega Ensemble since 2016.
During the 2019-2020 season, Nathan Meltzer performed at the Musical de l’Orne in France, Giardini La Mortella in Italy, in Denmark with the Aalborg Symfoniorkester, and with the Royal Northern Sinfonia in the UK. During the fall he played at the Liederkranz Foundation in New York, gave the Gessner-Schocken memorial recital in Cambridge, and recorded his first CD with Rohan De Silva on the Champs Hill label. In the spring he returned to North Carolina to play Johannes Brahms' Violin Concerto with the Charlotte Civic Orchestra and played L.v. Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the Adelphi Orchestra in New York and New Jersey. His 2020-2021 season includes the release of his debut CD with Rohan De Silva, appearances with the Adelphi Orchestra, Hull Philharmonic Orchestra, and Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and the launch of Opus Illuminate, an online concert series dedicated to the works of composers from underrepresented communities.
