The musicians of Teatro del Mondo got to know and appreciate each other largely in an international Orfeo project under the direction of Gabriel Garrido, one of the leading Monteverdi specialists of our time. After the ensemble was founded, numerous concerts followed at home and abroad, which were enthusiastically acclaimed by the critics.
Whether as a vocal ensemble, with a large continuo cast, or as an orchestra: Teatro del Mondo quickly made a name for itself. Highlights were performances and concert broadcasts at the Rheingau Music Festival, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Music Festival, the RheinVokal Festival, the Bremen Music Festival, the Beethovenfest Bonn and the Young Euro Classic Festival Berlin. At the Vielklangfestival Tübingen, the ensemble was "Orchestra in Residence" from 2013 to 2018 and worked successfully with Bernhard Forck/ violin, Gottfried von der Goltz/ violin, Mayumi Hirasaki/ violin, Hille Perl/viola da gamba, Sibylla Rubens/ soprano and Klaus Mertens/ bass, among others.
In 2018, Teatro del Mondo recorded a CD with previously unreleased arias and concerti from 18th century Naples with the renowned soprano Robin Johannsen on Perfect noise. In addition, a CD production with the successful young tenor Julian Prégardien was released by CPO, featuring various settings of the Orpheus myth. In 2019, the CD "Didone abbandonata" was released with cantatas and arias by Nicola Porpora, Vinci, Johann Adolf Hasse and others, sung by Sunhae Im/ soprano. Two releases in co-operation with the vocal Ensemble Polyharmonique and works by J.S. Bach and Cesti are planned for 2022. In addition, another recording with Sunhae Im J.S.
