The German choral conductor, church musician and composer, Gerd-Peter Münden, is the son of a priest of the Kreuznacher Diakonie. He received first lessons in organ playing with Dieter Wellmann. He studied at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Heidelberg and completed there his A-exam.
Gerd-Peter Münden worked for the first time as church musician in Stromberg, where he worked with children's choir and had the first contact with the poet Brigitte Antes. From 1992 to 1999 he worked as Kantor at St. Marien in Minden and took over there the congregation singing. After publication of his standard work, Kinderchorleitung (Childer's Choir directing) in 1989, he became a specialist for singing with children. Since 1995, he is lecturer at various universities for this subject. In 1999, he became Domkantor at the Braunschweig's Dom. At the Braunschweig's Domsingschule he headed the largest organisation for Protestant church music in Germany. In 2008 550 children and 250 adults studied at the Domsingschule. In 2007, he launched the "Klasse, wir singen" in Braunschweig (Brunswick) region, in which 28,000 students sang together 10 festive Lieder at the Braunschweig's VW-Halle. The project is in the non-profit franchise system throughout Germany.
In addition, Gerd-Peter Münden is as a composer for choir and orchestra and has begun a new series of Deutsche Anthems. |
