The South-African tenor (soloist & chorister), vocal pedagogue, and conductor, Nicholas Nicolaidis, began his vocal studies at the world famous Drakensberg Boys Choir School (1988-1991). He obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Peformance with Honours from University of the Witwatersrand (1999-2002) and furthered his singing studies in London, UK (St John's College: 1992-1994), and his choral conducting studies in Stellenbosch Univeristy in Stellenbosch, South Africa (2007-2009).
Nicholas Nicolaidis is an accomplished and award-winning soloist, chorister, vocal pedagogue, and conductor, with a special sensitivity to J.S. Bach. He has been tenor singer at Chanticleer Singers in Parkhurst, Gauteng, South Africa (December 1993-March 2019); Choir Conductor at Pridwin Preparatory School (1996-2002); Music director at The Welsh Male Voice Choir of South Africa in Johannesburg, Gauteng (1998-2004); Music Teacher at Pridwin Preparatory School (1999-2007); Conductor at Singkronies Chamber Choir in Pretoria, South Africa (2014); Resident Conductor at Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra - GPO in Pretoria, South Africa (February-December 2014); Musical Director of Melos Africanos (2005-April 2019).
In 2019, Nicholas Nicolaidis moved to Canada, where he became an established member of Toronto's professional music scene, specializing in choral music, oratorio, Lieder, and jazz standards. He is Tenor at Toronto Mendelssohn Choir (since September 2021); Tenor at The Elora Singers in Elora, Ontario (since July 2021); and Music Director of Trinity Bach Project in Toronto. He married Angela Nicolaidis on January 12, 2008 and currently lives in Toronto. |
