Ölberg-Chor (Choir)

Founded: 1991 - Ölberg Church, Berlin, Germany

Der Ölberg-Chor (The Ölberg Choir) was founded in 1991 as the church choir of the Kreuzberger Ölberg-Gemeinde. From a small group of music-interested amateurs developed in the course of the years under the direction of Ingo Schulz a group of about 55 young people, who perform together big works of the choir literature.

They rehearse in the acoustically pleasant church room of the Ölberg-Kirche in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Parallel to the individual instruction in small groups, takes place an experienced voice-building, which is particularly important for people who do not have regular singing instruction.

Each year they perform usually two concert programmes. They sing four to six times additional in the year in the services of the Emmaus-Ölberg municipality. The programmes are widely varied and they dedicate themselves also to the music of 20th Century. For bigger oratorio works they try to get recent selection of soloists and orchestra musicians.
