The Swedish organist, pianist, conductor and composer, Sofia Östling, studied conducting and vocal music at the Kungliga Musikhögskolan i Stockholm (2010-2012) and Musikhögskolan i Malmö (Master of Music degree in Choir Conducting: September 2015-May 2017). She studied church music and solo organ playing at the Kungliga Musikhögskolan i Stockholm and the Högskolan för scen och musik i Göteborg (Master of Music degree in organ and related keyboard instruments: September 2013-June 2015). She also studied Music Theory (September 2013-June 2014) and Editing Music (September-December 2015) at Uppsala Universitet. She has also studied abroad, including with the legendary organ professor Jacques van Oortmerssen at the Conservatory of Amsterdam (2012-July 2013).
Sofia Östling has a wide range of musical skills, with an extensive repertoire and a great interest in music from several genres. She served as Organist at Svenska Kyrkan (since September 2017); Church Mmusician at Svenska kyrkan Eslöv (November 2015-February 2017); Organist at Vä-Skepparslövs Församling (March 2017-September 2021). Between 2019 and 2022, she was the conductor and artistic director of the Lunds Kammarkörs. She has served as Organist, Choir Director and Music Director at Allhelgonakyrkan, Lund's pastorate, since September 2021. She also has assignments for the Church of Sweden at the national level as vice chairman of the Church Board's music council.
Folk music is close to Sofia Östling's heart. Since spring 2020 she has been the chairwoman of the Skåne Fiddlers' Association. She is also active as a pianist and composer. She currently lives in Hässleholm, Skåne, Sweden. |
