The American composer, choir director, teacher, pianist, violinist, organist and fiddle player, Carla Padgett, has roots in Pickens County, South Carolina. She pursued her musical studies at the University of South Carolina and Furman University.
Carla Padgett established her career in the Upstate region of South Carolina. She is well-known in the region for her work as an organist and choir director. She felt that it was important to add a classical option to the menu of musical offerings in the greater Pickens area. She founded the Pickens Concert Choir in 2016 and was happy to find a group of willing singers who love the music and have worked hard to produce a series of concerts in a variety of styles. She has also served as Music Director/Organist at Seneca Presbyterian Church and at St. John’s Lutheran Church, ELCA in Walhalla, South Carolina (since August 2022). Her latest music series reflects her Appalachian heritage, but her work also reflects her early exposure to orchestral and choral music of all genres. Her most recent large work is a Missa Brevis for choir and orchestra. Her choral music has rich harmonies and a rhythmic nature that your choirs will love. |
