The Italian harpist, Cristiana Passerini, obtained her Harp degree, with the higher grades at 18 years old from the Conservatory of Bologna; and pursued the instrumental studies with J. Liber, soloist at the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
Since 1982, Cristiana Passerini started the collaborations, as first harp, with numerous orchestras: Young Israel Philharmonic, Orchestra della Toscana, A. Scarlatti of Naples’ Rai, proceeding with Fondazione A. Toscanini and Filarmonica Toscanini, Teatro Regio of Turin, Arena of Verona, Teatro Comunale of Bologna, Rtsi of Lugano, Orchestra dell’Opera of Parma (since 2013); under the direction of maestros as Gavazzeni, Inbal, Latham-König, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Kent Nagano. Simultaneusly, she conducted an intense activity as soloist and chamber music player, in ensembles as Nextime, FontanaMix, i Virtuosi Italiani, Icarus, Octandre. She realized numerous concerts and first executions of musics written by autors of our time and recorded chamber operas for Dynamic and Arkadia.
Besides, Cristiana Passerini studied in depth style and custom of the Baroque era with L. Rovighi, L. Bertani and M. Baroni, and she works to transfer on the harp a repertory, in particular J.S. Bach, that historically had just occasionally been part of the study and concert programs. She taught, in the biennium courses, ancient custom and ornamentation on modern instruments.
As soloist, Cristiana Passerini records for La Bottega Discantica: Lute Suites BWV 996, BWV 997, BWV 1006a and French Suites BWV 812-817. She publishes for Rugginenti-Volonté: Suite BWV 997 had been selected had been selected as mandatory test for the 50th edition of the International Harp Contest in Israel. She edited an urtext for Ut Orpheus and she published two didactic texts: “The harp: historical hints about the instrument and the repertory” and “The ancient harp repertory, guide to the execution” for Agenda Edizioni Musicali.
At the Conservatory of Adria, where Cristiana Passerini taught from 2008 to 2016, she founded various ensembles of harps, in particular the Adria Harp Quartet, dedicatee of musics written by contemporary Italian authors that included the employement of electronic and interactive systems, with which she recorded with Tactus. Since the academic year 2017-2018, she is regular of the chair of harp at the Conservatory G. Verdi of MilanHer students achieved recognitions in competitions of execution, among wich a Premio Abbado 2015 and she sees them, after the graduation, collaborate regularly with Italian and foreign orchestras.
