The Chilean soprano, Claudia Pereira, studied at the Instituto de Música de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (IMUC), where she obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Prformance (Singing|). She won the 1st Place in the Concurso Internacional de Canto Lírico de Trujillo, Perú (1999).
Since 1995 Claudia Pereira has been a regular soloist in the seasons of the main groups in Chile. In the operatic field, it is worth highlighting her interpretation of the roles of Lucy in Menotti's The Telephone, Musetta in La Bohème, Lauretta and Nella in Gianni Schicchi, as well as the leading role in George Frideric Handel's Rodelinda for Buenos Aires Lírica, Argentina. Other roles are Fanny in Rossini's La cambiale di matrimonio, Frasquita in Georges Bizet's Carmen, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Adina in L'elisir d'amore, Adele in Die Fledermaus and Susanna W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. She also participated in Wagner's Parsifal and Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel und Gretel, as well as in Fulgor y muerte de Joaquín Murieta, a production with which she traveled to Finland to the Savonlinna Opera Festival (2003).
In 2009, the highlights were her performances in Heitor Villa-Lobos' Floresta do Amazonas, J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 52 and Busco una Estirpe Nueva by the Chilean composer Sebastián Errázuriz, all with the Orquesta de Cámara de Chile; the premiere of J.S. Bach's Markus-Passion BWV 247 with Syntagma Musicum, and W.A. Mozart's Der Schauspieldirektor in the Opera Season of the Orquesta Sinfónica Universidad de Concepción. She also sang in Felix Mendelssohn's Elíah, Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 4 and Benjamin Britten's Les Illuminations together with the Sinfónica de Chile, and the operas L'elisir d'amore, Il barbiere di Siviglia and L'italiana in Algeri at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago. |
