The German conductor, David Preil, completed his studies at the Hochschule für Musik "Franz Liszt" in Weimar (from 2013), his principal subject being Orchestral Conducting, under Professor Nicolas Pasquet, Professor Gunter Kahlert and Professor Ekhart Wycik. During his studies he was awarded a Scholarship from the Erasmus Foundation and took a semester abroad at the Conservatorio "Giuseppe Verdi" in Milan under Vittorio Parisi. Additional artistic impetus came from Master-Classes with Ole Kristian Ruud, Clark Rundell, Jorma Pandula, Georg Fritzsch and Johannes Klumpp.
Since 2021, David Preil has been supported by The “Forum Dirigieren” programme of The German Music Council and was accepted for their Concert Sponsoring Programme in Sommer 2023. From September 2020 to 2022 he was engaged at the Sächsischen Staatsoper Dresden as music and vocal coach for the "Junges Ensemble". During this time, he assisted many renowned Conductors such as Marie Jacquot, Omer Meir Wellber and Alessandro de Marchi. From September 2022 to 2024 he was working as Kapellmeister at Theater Hof.
since September 2024, David Preil works as first Kapellmeister at the Landestheater Coburg. In addition to a large number of opera performances, he will conduct a symphony concert and special concerts during this season. Further he is going to make debuts at the Semperoper Dresden, the Nürnberger Symphoniker and the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen. His collaboration with the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie and the Capitol Symphony Orchestra continues.
At concerts, assistances and Master Courses David Preil has also worked at the Opera Leipzig, the Coburg Regional Theatre, the Festival "Oper im Steinbruch" in St. Margarethen. The Staatskapelle Weimar, Jenaer Philharmonie, Musikalischen Komödie Leipzig and Badische Staatsphilharmonie Karlsruhe are some of the Orchestras with which he has collaborated. |
