The Estonian baritone, Brett Pruunsild, began his musical training in his home city of Tartu, initially studying piano and later switching to voice. He went on to take a bachelor’s degree in singing at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Bernd Valentin.
Brett Pruunsild regularly appears with the ensemble BachWerkVokal Salzburg (Director: Gordon Safari), and performs at the annual festival concerts directed by Lilyan Kaiv in Tartu, which was named European Capital of Culture in 2024. On the opera stage, he appeared in 2023 as Don Alfonso in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte and as Peter in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel in productions at the Mozarteum. As part of Mozartwoche 2024 Brett Pruunsild performed the role of Salieri in Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's one-act opera Mozart and Salieri at the Salzburg Marionette Theatre under the direction of Kai Röhring. In 2024 he makes his debut at the Salzburg Festival in Orff’s Die Kluge. |
