Chor Saarbrücken (Chor)

Founded: 1953 - Saarbrücken, Saarland, Germany

The Chor der Universität des Saarlandes has existed since 1953, making it the oldest musical ensemble at Universität Saarbrücken. Led by UMD Dr. Helmut Freitag since 2002, it is primarily characterized by the participation of dedicated students, faculty, and many other singers from outside the university. All interested parties, preferably those with musical knowledge and choir experience, are warmly welcome. The program primarily features major oratorio works from all eras, but also regularly features outstanding examples of secular and sacred a cappella literature.

Occasional trips take them to Switzerland and nearby France, where the choir maintains a special artistic relationship with the Institut Gouvy in Hombourg-Haut, with regular performances.

In addition to the annual "WANdern und SINgen vor SemesterbeGINN" in the Berner Oberland, university and radio church services and the Advent "Campus-Singen" are integral parts of their work.
