Veronika Schreiber (Violin)

Born: Upper Silesia, Poland

The Polish-borm American violinist, teacher, artistic director Veronika Schreiber-Kadłubkiewicz, graduated with highest honors of the Warsaw Academy of Music in Poland and continued her studies in the USA with Henryk Szeryng, Roman Totenberg and Paul Zukofsky. Finalist of the Alberto Curci Competition in Naples, Italy, she received a special award from the Rockefeller Competition for Excellence in American Music in Washington D.C.

Hailed as a “great artist” by Henryk Szeryng and a “dazzling violinist” by High Fidelity Magazine, “an authentic revelation” by Rafael Nebot, and praised for “delicate and perceptive warmth of expression” by Strad Magazine, Veronika Schreiber is active both in the USA and Europe. Soloist with orchestras in Italy, Poland, Spain, and the USA, Veronika has played at the Marlboro Music Festival, Bach Aria Festival and Institute in Stony Brook, Monadnock Music (USA), Estate di Radicondoli (Italy), Festival Perigord and FestiVal d'Arly (France), Musica Electronica Nova and Warsaw Autumn Festival (Poland). Formerly concert-master of the Polish Chamber Orchestra, Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, and the New Hampshire Symphony, she has also played with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and was a founding member of the New England Camerata.

Sought out interpreter of contemporary music, Veronika Schreiber has collaborated with Witold Lutoslawski, Morton Feldman, Samuel Adler, Salvatore Macchia, and Louis Spratlan among others, and has recorded many compositions written and dedicated to her.

Veronika Schreiber taught violin and chamber music at Smith College, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and Amherst College. She conducted Violin Master-classes in France and Portugal, at Duke University, and at Charleston College. The music education for children was always important to her and as of 2023, she is the director of the Grove Foundation Summer Music Program at the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester.

Passionate about the music of J.S. Bach, Veronika Schreiber organized and was the Artistic Director of the “Viva Bach” festival in Alcácer do Sal (Portugal) in 2019 and, as of 2022, she is the Founder and Artistic Director of “Viva Bach Peterborough” in Peterborough New Hampshire, USA.

In 1983 with the generous support of Irene and Rudolf Serkin, Veronika Schreiber arrived in the USA as a political refugee and became an American citizen. Fluent in Polish, English, French, Italian, and Portuguese, Veronika's ability to connect with diverse audiences worldwide enriches her musical journey as a violinist. Her voyage is a testament to the power of music in transcending boundaries, and fostering connections across cultures. She plays on the violin made in Lisbon in 2016 by Christian Bayon.
