The Danish bass, Jakob Soelberg Miskow, played the drums, the piano and the bassoon before settling with singing as a 17-year-old. The voice soon became his favorite instrument. He fraduated from Sorø Akademis Skole, music and math as ‘special subjects (2001). He obtained his Master of Arts in Musicology with English minor from the University of Copenhagen (2001-2009). During this time he took 3-year preparatory course in singing (MGK) at Københavns Kommunes musikskole (2003-2006); and had private voice studies with Malcolm King and Malcolm Walker at Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (2008). He obtained his Master of Arts in classical singing from The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen (2006-2012), where he studied with Margrete Enevold (2006 to 2009). In 2009-2010, he participated in Exchange programme at Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin, where he studied with Professor Scot Weir. He also attended master-classes and courses: Copenhagen Renaissance Music Festival: Master-classes with Jill Feldman and Robert Hollingworth (2006); York Early Music Young Artists Competition (2007); Master-class with Malcolm Walker, Bo Skovhus and Helmut Deutsch, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Christian Westergaard, Kirsten Buhl Møller and Jakob Lorentzen (2006-2009).
Jakob Soelberg and enjoys today the teamwork of highly specialized ensemble singing. He has been a member of Ars Nova Copenhagen since 2009. He has also sung with other choirs and ensembles: Frederiksberg Slotskirke in Copenhagen (2002-2005), Frederiksborg Slotskirke in Hillerød (2005-2006), Holmens Kirkes Vokalensemble in Copenhagen (2006) and Danish National Radio Choir (DRKK) (2011), as well as Mogens Dahl Kammerkor in Copenhagen, Ensemble SYD in Malmö, Voces Kammerkor, Holmens Herrekvartet, Kopenhagen Kabarett, The Royal Navy Church Choir, Teater Hedeland Opera Choir.
Jakob Soelberg also regularly perform as a soloist, mainly within the Baroque and Lied repertoire around Copenhagen, including: Lied recital Schubert and Johannes Brahms with Liedkompagniet at Trinitatis kirke, Copenhagen (September 2008); J.S. Bach’s cantata BWV 131 Aus der Tiefe with Holmens Vokalensemble, concert tour in Spain (October 2008); J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) with Det Unge Kammerorkester and Chorus Soranus (December 2008); Schubert’s Winterreise with pianist Christian Westergaard at Sorø International Music Festival (January 2009); J.S. Bach and George Frideric Handel with Ars Nova Copenhagen and Concerto Copenhagen on concert tour in Spain (April 2009); Recital Samuel Barber’s Dover Beach in Tacheles, Berlin (May 2010); J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) with Chor Kaltenkirchen (December 2010); J.S.
