The American baritone, choral conductor and music teacher, Kelly Turner, obtained his Bachelor of Music Education degree Choral Music from Auburn University (1992-1996); and both a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting (1997-1999) and his Doctor of Musica Arts in Choral Conducting (2005-2009) from University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
While Kelly Turner ultimately chose a career path in the field of Information Technology, he has remained active as a freelance musician in the Winston-Salem area as both a conductor and baritone singer. He has directed choirs and taught music theory, conducting, lyric diction, and voice at both the secondary and collegiate levels. He has also been privileged to serve in the music ministries of several churches over the years as director, soloist, and choir member. He has been Choral Director at Wake County Public School System in Raleigh, North Carolina (August 1999-June 2003); HR Systems Coordinator at University of Notre Dame (August 2003-May 2005); Assistant Professor at University of Houston (August 2009-August 2011); Project Manager at ProBenefits, Inc. in Greensboro--Winston-Salem (August 2011-December 2021); Owner of PhoneticSoft since January 2009); Project Manager (January-September 2022) and IT Manager (since September 2022) of Flores & Associates, LLC in Winston-Salem. Currently, he is the very fiest Chorus Master of Piedmont Opera (since September 2025) and a member of Winston-Salem Choral Artists (since 2022, Director: Christopher Gilliam).
Kelly Turner married Amy Pleasants Turner on July 20, 2002, and they currently live in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. They also own (and sing in) Season’s Best Carolers, a professional caroling company that entertains throughout the triad area. |
