Twickenham Choral Society is a welcoming, thriving choir of 100 voices drawing singers of all ages from a wide area of West London and Surrey. Programmes are chosen to provide us the opportunity to sing great works from the choral repertoire and explore less familiar music, ranging from Renaissance to the present day. Members have regular input into the musical repertoire. The choir is recognised as one of the foremost choirs in West London.
Twickenham Choral Society was founded in 1974 by Christopher Herrick, who served as it Musical Director until June 2024. Howard Ionascu was appomied as the choir's new Musical Director and Conductor from September 2024. The choir works with excellent professional soloists and orchestras, producing high quality performances. Concerts are staged at least three times a year, in local venues, central London venues and abroad. Concert tours abroad are organised biennially. Recent destinations have included Bratislava, Vienna and Umbria. They also organise occasional workshops open to non members where we explore the intricacies of a major choral work or set of pieces.
Their rehearsals are dynamic and challenging with a real sense of pace and enthusiasm for singing together. Such a joy after the restrictions of Covid-19. Rehearsals take place between September and July on Thursday evenings at St. Catherine’s School, Cross Deep, Twickenham. |
