Arose in Antwerp on the initiative of Lodewijk De Damp. In 1916, he formed the mixed choir Chorale Caecilia, later the Royal Chorale Caecilia. Through a series of noticed performances in the Netherlands and abroad, this choir received a large national and even international reputation. In 1967, Louis stopped the fluid and disbanded the choir. Some choir members then decided to continue as a new Caecilia choir first led by Frits Caceres, then with Frans Dubois as conductor. He would lead the choir for over thirty years to 2001, in which after ten years again the name Chorale Caecilia was introduced.
Since 2002, conductor Paul Dinneweth has taken over the conducting stick. His innovative artistic leadership lifts the choir to a high musical level, resulting in a broad and challenging repertoire. So they could have recently performed Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2 at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, together with the ballet Béjart Lausanne and the ballet Tokyo L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 performed in Vorst national and there was a notable performance in the new Elisabeth Hall in Antwerp of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, in which Jef Neve has brought Rhapsody in Blue in his way beforehand. Meanwhile, the choir became more colloquially known as deCHORALE.
With more than a hundred and twenty singers, deCHORALE has taken a unique place in the Flemish choir world. To monitor quality, deCHORALE stresses the importance of choral training, voice screening and voice training for all choir members.
