History & Mission: |
The Appenzeller Bachtage (Bach Days of Appenzell), the festival of the Bach Foundation) were launched in 2014. The festival’s aim is to bring great J.S. Bach performers and experts, preeminent academics and a wide audience together to experience and discuss J.S. Bach from established, surprising and innovative perspectives.
The «Appenzeller Bachtage» are planned to take place every two years in various locations of breathtaking beauty in Eastern Switzerland featuring different modules:
- Bach at Home (chamber music in private homes)
- Bach at School (education programmes)
- a Bach Academy (talks and lecture-recitals)
- cantata performances
- cross-over concerts (Swiss folk music, jazz, etc.)
- recitals featuring world-class soloists
and much more!
The Foundation underwent major reorganization during this year and the Bachtage did not take place as a standalone multi-day festival, but resumed as a full event in 2018. |
