The English organist and composer/arranger, Ralph Hamon Bellairs, was the second son of Rev. Henry Spencer Kenrick Bellairs from Baton End, Oxfordshire, and Mary Jane, dauughter of Benjamin Helps Starey, Milton Ernest from Bedfordshire; obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree (1890), his Master of Arts degree (1897) and Doctor of Music degree (1904) from The University of Oxford's Faculty of Music. He studied at Westminster School in London; Balliol College in Oxford; the Royal College of Music in London.
Ralph Bellairs served as Organist of Bradfield College in Berkshire (1893-1896). He received Fellowship Diploma of the Royal College of Organists (FRCO) in 1898, and Theory Dipolma as Associate of the Royal College of Music (ARCM) in 1899. He then served as Organist of Christ Church in Cheltenham (1901-1818). He is the author of The Elements of Pianoforte Technique arranged upon a Rhythmic Basis, (1905); and composer of composer, Suite Idyllique, and other works for organ and piano. On August 3, 1893 he married Mary Estrella Eleanor, daughter of Rev. Thomas Godfrey Pembroke Pope DD, Consular Chaplain at Lisbon and Canon of Gibraltar. |
