This PDF file contains in minimalist form all the important information about J.S. Bach's organ works with the most recent research included. I never realized fully how complicated the situation was. Here are some observations that may be helpful:
1. There really were very few problems in distinguishing the organ works from other keyboard works
2. The NBA listing appears to be the most up-to-date and should be considered the primary reference
3. The pages referring to specific organ works are from Peter Williams' 2nd Edition of "The Organ Music of J. S. Bach" and are listed at the far right
4. A number of works from the BGA, as would be expected, are missing or works have been included that scholars no longer recognize as being Bach's
5. The BWV numbers seem to continue to hold sway over the BC, which despite its usefulness in presenting a chronological view, nevertheless still lacks compositions which have now been included. (The BC list comes from Wolff's listing of Bach's organ works in the Grove Music Online 2007.
6. The most recent additions (most of the deest's) are from a recently published volume (2007) by the NBA. |
