BWV 6 and 140

John Calvin wrote (November 23, 2010):
I recently purchased the CD Bach - Cantatas BWV 6 and BWV 140 from the The Bach Choir.

Reginald Jacques Orchestra, Reginald Jacques (conductor)

This is an historic recording of Bach Cantatas BWV 6, Bide with us, and BWV 140, Sleepers wake!, made in 1955 at Abbey Road Studios and sung in English. This CD includes the very first complete work recorded in stereo by EMI.

I finally have Bach sung in English besides the usual Matthews (BWV 244) and John’s Passion (BWV 245), but I can’t make out all the words. I know this is a long shot but does anyone have the original 1955 or this recording to know what translation they used or how I can get the exact words they are singing?

Soprano: Elsie Morrison; Contralto: Marjorie Thomas; Tenor: David Galliver; Tenor: Wilfred Brown; Bass: Richard Standen Osborne Peasgood (organ); Hubert Dawkes (Harpsichord)

This CD is featured in the Bach Cantata Website-recordings and is #2 under BWV 6 and #C-3 under Reginald Jacques - Bach Cantatas & Other Vocal Works in the same site
